I. V. Arzhantsev

Arzhantsev, Ivan Vladimirovich, born on October 22, 1972 in Kiev. Married. Children: Renat (1997), Alexei (2001), Andrei (2002), Ekaterina (2004), Evgeniya (2010)

Research Interests: Algebraic Geometry, Representation Theory, Algebraic Groups, Invariant Theory

Junior Research Fellow (1999-2004), Teaching Assistant (2004-2005), Associate Professor (2005-2013), Professor (since 2013) at the Department of Higher Algebra, Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics, Lomonosov Moscow State University. In 1995 Arzhantsev graduated with honors from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Lomonosov Moscow State University. In 1998 he defended his Ph.D. thesis "On reductive group actions with spherical orbits"; supervisor Professor E.B. Vinberg. In 2010 he defended his Doctor of Science thesis “Embeddings of homogeneous spaces and Geometric Invariant Theory”

Arzhantsev collaborates regularly with the Fourier Institute (Grenoble, France) and the Karl-Eberhard University (Tübingen, Germany)

Grant of the President of Russian Federation (2004–2005), European Academy Prize (2006), Pierre Deligne Grant (2008–2010), Simons-IUM Grants (2011, 2012, 2013), Grant of Dynasty Foundation for doctors of sciences (2012-2014), Grant of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russian Federation (2012-2013)

Since 2013 Arzhantsev is a tenured professor at the Independent University of Moscow

He has authored around 50 research articles and has mentored 8 doctoral students
